The Wings and Wheels Foundation Turn 2 VIP Suite at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) offers a unique viewing experience with expansive trackside views.
Located in a building located directly adjacent to the track, which was once a trackside hotel, our suite provides a close, personal, and panoramic view with a balcony that is just feet away from the racing surface of the action from the exit of Turn 1, through Turn 2, and all the way down the backstretch to the entrance of Turn 3. This proximity means spectators are very close to the cars as they navigate the turn and accelerate down the backstretch, offering an “up close and personal” experience with the cars passing just feet away.
The view is not just limited to the immediate turn. From our private balcony, you can see all the way down the entire back straightaway to the entrance of Turn 3. Positioned on the second floor, the view is less elevated and thus more focused on the immediate track area. Consider bringing ear protection because the suite is so close to the action.
The vista offers a wide, panoramic view of the IMS grounds, including sightlines to iconic landmarks such as the IMS Museum and the famous Pagoda building.
The TeamWWF Suite is climate-controlled, with indoor and outdoor seating (on our balcony), closed-circuit TVs, a private restroom, and catering options available for purchase.
Elevator and stair access is available, and some suite rentals include garage/pit passes and parking passes.

The Dynamics of Passing at Turn 2
- Exit of Turn 2 is Crucial: The primary passing opportunity at Turn 2 occurs on the back straightaway after the turn. Drivers focus on getting a strong “drive” or exiting Turn 2 to maximize speed down the subsequent straight, where the actual pass often takes place.
- Cornering Strategy: Successful passing involves setting up the maneuver one or two corners in advance. A driver might take a lower line into Turn 2 to minimize distance traveled, allowing for a better exit and the chance to use the draft on the straightaway to complete the pass.
- Side-by-Side Action: While the pass might be completed on the straight, bold side-by-side battles often occur as cars transition through the short chute between Turns 1 and 2.
- Impact of Repaving: Recent repaving of Turn 2 has made the exit smoother, which drivers noted might help with overtaking by providing more confidence to run at high speed in competitive situations. This could increase the frequency of passing in this area.
- Utilizing “Push-to-Pass” (IndyCar): In IndyCar races, drivers can use their “push-to-pass” system strategically as they exit Turn 2 and head down the straight. This power boost helps them match or exceed the pace of the car in front, aiding in the overtaking maneuver.
In summary, Turn 2 itself is less about heavy braking and dive-bomb passes (which are more common in Turn 1 on the road course, for example) and more about the technical execution that enables a pass on the long straight that follows.
Turn 2 Facts
The Turn 2 VIP Suites at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are famous for their unique historical origins and an intense, “over-the-track” viewing perspective unlike any other spot at the venue.
- Converted Trackside Hotel Rooms: The building is the oldest suite facility at the track and originally functioned as a trackside hotel. These suites are often referred to as “vintage hotel rooms” that have been converted into premium hospitality spaces.
- “Right Over the Top” View: These suites are famous for their extreme proximity to the track. Private balconies put guests just feet away from the wall, offering a view described as being “right over the top of the race cars” as they navigate the apex of Turn 2.
- Expansive Sightlines: Despite being nestled in a corner, the vantage point is exceptionally wide. Guests can see cars exiting Turn 1, follow them through Turn 2, and watch them accelerate all the way down the back straightaway to the entrance of Turn 3.
- Famous Former Residents: Because the building was once the Speedway Motel, it is renowned for having hosted legendary drivers (such as the Unsers, A.J. Foyt, and Mario Andretti), movie stars, and politicians. Scenes from the 1969 Paul Newman movie Winning were even filmed in these rooms.
- Exclusivity and History: As one of the most upscale and historic offerings at IMS, these suites offer a panoramic view of the IMS Museum and the Pagoda, blending a modern, premium experience with a sense of racing heritage.
Recent Track Surface Repave
A section of the track surface at the exit of Turn 2 was repaved in late 2025 to address bumps caused by the original bricks below moving due to weather. This project uncovered some of the original 1909 crushed stone and tar surface, and the repaved section has been tested and approved by drivers for a smoother race.
We recently shared IMS videos of the repave process.
The TeamWWF VIP Suite is available for major events, including the Indy 500 and Brickyard Weekend. For specific rental information and pricing, contact Madelyn at director@teamwwf.com.
