Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 CupAfter several weeks off from competition, Mazda MX-5 Cup drivers will return to action this weekend at Virginia International Raceway for Rounds 9-10 of the championship.

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Nathan Nicholson, who has also been racing NASCAR trucks this year, is currently No. 6 in the point standings. He will make a push for the top 5 this weekend on the 3.27-mile, 16-turn road course.

“Excited to get back to it with Advanced Autosports,” Nicholson said.

Two practice sessions are scheduled for Friday, with qualifying and Race 1 (5:45 p.m.) set for Saturday. Race 2 (3:30 p.m.) will take place on Sunday.

You can watch both races on the IMSA Official YouTube Channel. We will post the links to our social media platforms once they become available.

According to mx-5cup.com, only one race at VIR in the last decade had a margin of victory over one second. Eight newcomers will join the field for the first time this weekend, adding to the excitement.

In his last MX-5 Cup outing at the beginning of July, Nicholson finished P24 and P7 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

After VIR, Nicholson and company will head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sept. 18-20 for Rounds 11-12. You can watch the races, which are a part of IMSA Weekend at IMS, live in our Turn 2 VIP Suite.
