Aaron Jeansonne Closes Gap in Carrera Cup Championship Battle

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador with Productive Showing in Round 5 at Road America

By Kris Mills, Social Media Coordinator

It was a highly productive weekend for TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Aaron Jeansonne.

Racing in Round 5 of the Porsche Motorsport North America Carrera Cup Championship at Road America this past weekend, Jeansonne claimed P2, P3, and P2 finishes to close the gap in the championship battle.

Jeansonne entered the weekend tied for second in the Pro Class standings but now sits alone in second after the three races — one being a make-up race from an earlier round (Miami).

Tyler Maxson (TOPP Racing) remains No. 1 in the Pro Class standings with 183 points. Jeansonne (Kellymoss) is right on his heels with 167 points. Callum Hedge (JDX Racing) was tied with Jeansonne for second before the Road America races but now sits alone in third with 150 points.

Hear from Jeansonne below, who experienced his first rain race (Race 3) in over four years.

Round 6 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

In just over 40 days, as Jeansonne mentioned in the video, Carrera Cup drivers will head to the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Round 6 action. The official dates for Round 6 are Sept. 18-20.

If you want to watch Jeansonne and fellow TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Nathan Nicholson (Mazda MX-5 Cup) race live that weekend, you can do so in our Turn 2 VIP Suite. Go here for more information: TeamWWF.org/tickets-available-for-imsa-indy-8-hour-events-at-the-indianapolis-motor-speedway

Jeansonne’s first Carrera Cup win came at IMS last year (Race 2 — click here for Aaron’s 2025 victory post). He was greeted after the race by TeamWWF Founder Mark McAlister as they shared a special moment together. When he made it over to our suite to visit, Jeansonne was applauded for his effort as he walked in the door.

After Round 6 at IMS, Carrera Cup drivers will head to Road Atlanta for Round 7 Sept. 30-Oct. 2. The championship will conclude Oct. 23-25 at the Circuit of the Americas (Round 8).
