IMSA at Indy Preview: Q&A with Ayrton Houk

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Eager for Opportunity to Race at IMS

By Ayrton Houk, TeamWWF Ambassador/Driver

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Ayrton Houk will be racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend as part of the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks. Houk, from McCordsville, IN, will compete in the Michelin Pilot Challenge at IMS after making his IMSA debut in August.

Read our Q&A with Houk below:

Why are you excited to race at IMS? What makes it special to you?

AH: As an Indianapolis native, IMS has always had a massive impact on my life. I have been coming to the Indianapolis 500 for as long as I can remember. Being able to compete on one of the most historic and famous tracks in the world is something my younger self could only dream about.

How do you feel about racing in your home state? Will you have friends and family in attendance?

AH: This will be an amazing weekend. We have a ton of friends and family coming out, and it will be great to have them all at the track with us!

What makes the IMS course unique or challenging?

AH: This track is actually one of my favorite tracks that I have been to. With no elevation and a super-smooth surface, it really rewards precision driving and deep brake lunges.

Your thoughts on your racing season to date?

AH: I have had a great season so far; in the Kenyon Midget Series, I have had some great results and have been in the points lead for a majority of the season. I have just begun my venture into IMSA, and it has been amazing so far! I am excited to get out in the Aston Martin again and continue developing my skill set in this new series.

Any other thoughts or special thanks you wish to include?

AH: Big thank you to everyone who has made this weekend possible for me, my parents, Wings and Wheels Foundation, and the Little Red Door Cancer Agency. I can’t wait to get out there!
