TeamWWF Hosts Eager Race Fans During Sonsio GP Weekend

Sonsio GP Signals the Start of a Busy Month of May

By Kris Mills, Social Media Coordinator

Opening weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is always special.

TeamWWF hosted eager race fans this past Friday for Sonsio Grand Prix practice and qualifying — plus other events throughout the day. Our Turn 2 VIP Suite was full of excitement despite qualifying being delayed due to rain later in the evening.

Congratulations to Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard on winning the grand prix on Saturday. Last year, Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing won the Sonsio GP before going on to win the Indianapolis 500. Will Lundgaard follow in his footsteps and win the 500 this year?

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Trey Burke made an appearance in the suite on Friday, as he usually does in May. It was great to catch up with Burke, who had several racing friends walking around the infield. Burke is competing in the new IHRA Stock Car Series. His next race is set for May 30 at Newport Speedway in Newport, Tennessee.

We also had a few more familiar faces join us for a day of racing. Thank you to those who have been repeat visitors to our suite. Your support and love for racing help fuel our passion for helping young drivers advance to the next stage of their careers.

We were excited to meet a handful of new race fans as well, which furthers our reach as we aim to ‘Bridge the Gap Between Talent and Cost.

TeamWWF is looking forward to the rest of a busy month that will conclude with the Indianapolis 500 on May 24.

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Kaeden Ballos Shares Special Moment with Fan

“Even out of state, supporting my kiddos (fans) will always come first. This weekend at a family reunion in VA, one of the kids came up to me with the biggest smile and politely asked for one of my hero cards. I signed his shirt back and both sleeves. The look on his face was pure magic. A few minutes later I watched him flying around on his bike faster than ever, like he had rockets strapped on. Moments like that hit different. It’s easily one of my favorite parts of this whole journey (right behind being on track). Nothing beats getting to leave a mark and inspire the next generation. Can’t wait for the next one.”
