Valentino Rossi is Competing in the Indianapolis 8 Hour

The Seven-Time MotoGP World Champion

MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi will pass within arm’s reach of the TeamWWF Turn 2 Suite at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Valentino Rossi made history at IMS by winning the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP MotoGP race in September 2008. This victory was one of 89 he secured in the premier class throughout his legendary career as a motorcycle racer.

After participating in all eight MotoGP events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) from 2008 to 2015, Valentino Rossi will be racing in a car at this iconic venue for the first time. He will compete in the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS from October 16 to 18 on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course. Rossi will be driving one of BMW and WRT’s two factory-supported entries, sharing the No. 46 BMW with Charles Weerts. Weerts is part of the BMW team that won this event last year, alongside Kelvin van der Linde, who leads the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) drivers’ championship.

Rossi is a prominent member of BMW’s factory GT3 team; however, he has not yet raced in an Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) event in the United States. His prior races have been held at Spa, Bathurst, and the Gulf 12 Hours. Earlier this year, he achieved his best IGTC finish, securing second place overall at both the Bathurst 12 Hour in Australia and the race in Abu Dhabi in 2023.
