TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Nathan Nicholson second in MX-5 Cup standings with two rounds remaining

Finally, There is Light at the End of the Tunnel

After a long and entertaining Mazda MX-5 Cup season, only two rounds remain.

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Nathan Nicholson (No. 56 Advanced Autosports) is gearing up for the final stop of the championship, which is set for Oct. 8-10 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Nicholson, who finished P6 and P7 this past weekend at Virginia International Raceway, is second in the overall standings — 50 points behind championship leader Jeremy Fletcher.

Fletcher (3,180) and Nicholson (3,130) are followed by Tyler Gonzalez (3,030), Jared Thomas (2,500), and Ethan Goulart (2,450).

“You’ve seen over the last couple of years, it’s been super tight coming down to the line,” Nicholson said.

After a strong rookie campaign, Nicholson entered his sophomore season in the MX-5 Cup with more confidence, which has led to more consistency.

After a lot of promising results last year (series rookie), I didn’t have the consistency I needed,” Nicholson said. “Going into this year, I was focusing on capitalizing on what we are already good at and really finalizing and refining everything we had. I think that has helped my consistency this year.”

Last year, Nicholson, 19, who is from Bloomington, Ind., finished seventh overall in the standings with 2,610 points.

Those interested in watching him race can do so by visiting the IMSA Official YouTube channel. Below are the links for the races this past weekend in Virginia:
