Championship Heating Up as Kenyon Midgets Head to Berlin

After this weekend’s race at Berlin Raceway, only three stops remain on the 2026 Kenyon Midget Series schedule — which means the championship is heating up.

For the first time this year, TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Ayrton Houk (JK Racing) is not at the top of the point standings. Houk missed the Lincoln Park race on Aug. 22 due to making his IMSA debut in the Michelin Pilot Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.

Isaac Johnson sits atop the standings with 1,584 points — 74 points ahead of Houk, who has led the standings since the opening race at Anderson. Dameron Taylor is currently 25 points behind Houk for third.

Houk is no stranger to Berlin as he won the race last year. He is ready for a second championship.

“I’m very excited to get back to Berlin,” Houk told USSAracing.com. “I am comfortable at that track and feel like we have a good opportunity to reel Isaac (Johnson) back in.”

Fellow TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Danny O’Gara (PFH Racing) will also be racing at Berlin on Friday. O’Gara, who has had a tremendous year in both of his series (also Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series), is a Redline Ace Rookie of the Year contender with the Kenyon Midgets despite only competing in a handful of races.

Hunter Peri (1,420 points; fifth overall) leads drivers eligible for the rookie of the year honors. O’Gara is No. 14 in the points standings with 762 points.

After Berlin, Kenyon Midget drivers will head to the Indianapolis Speedrome on Sept. 5. The next race at the Sportsdrome Speedway is scheduled for Sept. 18. The championship will conclude at Anderson Speedway (Kenyon Classic) Sept. 26.
