Nathan Nicholson to Make NASCAR Truck Series Debut in St. Pete

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Ready for Double Weekend

By Kris Mills, Social Media Coordinator

It will be an extremely busy — and hopefully sunny — weekend for TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Nathan Nicholson.

In addition to competing in Rounds 3-4 of the Mazda MX-5 Cup, Nicholson will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut this weekend on the Streets of St. Petersburg. It will be the first-ever street race for the series in over 30 years of competition.

Nicholson, who is from Bloomington, Ind., is set to race in select road course events this year in the No. 76 car for Whelen Engineering and Freedom Racing Enterprises.

“I was looking to make the step up to NASCAR at the right time and with the right people, and when the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule was announced, I knew right away that the street courses presented a great opportunity for me,” Nicholson said.

Practice starts on Friday at 4 p.m. (Eastern). FS2 will broadcast the session. Qualifying follows at 5:05 p.m. on FS2.

Saturday’s OnlyBulls Green Flag 150 will begin at approximately noon. FOX One will carry the race. SiriusXM will also provide radio coverage.

Mazda MX-5 Cup

After finishing third in the overall standings last year, Nicholson is gearing up for another big year with the super-competitive Mazda MX-5 Cup.

At Daytona for Rounds 1-2 at the end of January, he finished P7 and P10 and is currently No. 12 in the standings.

At St. Pete, practice and qualifying are set for Friday. Race 1 will take place on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Race 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m.

TeamWWF Driver Ambassador Kaeden Ballos Shares Special Moment with Fan

“Even out of state, supporting my kiddos (fans) will always come first. This weekend at a family reunion in VA, one of the kids came up to me with the biggest smile and politely asked for one of my hero cards. I signed his shirt back and both sleeves. The look on his face was pure magic. A few minutes later I watched him flying around on his bike faster than ever, like he had rockets strapped on. Moments like that hit different. It’s easily one of my favorite parts of this whole journey (right behind being on track). Nothing beats getting to leave a mark and inspire the next generation. Can’t wait for the next one.”
